In 2016 Nike revamped their entire Nike Free collection with some great improvements overall, despite a few flaws (see the Nike Free RN Flyknit review). For this 2017 version, the Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit goes entirely lace free! Instead it features a well-thought two-strap system that lets you customize the fit and adjust the pressure around the foot. Despite the marketing label 'natural' don't get fooled: in terms of ride the RN Motion Flyknit 2017 is a neutral shoe with a significant amount of cushioning (20 mm heel height). However, it's limited heel to toe drop (only 4 mm) makes it a good shoe to slowly transition to natural/minimalist running. The sock-like fit is a case of love it or hate it so make sure to try it beforehand.
- Very comfortable sock-like fit without laces
- Flexible ride
- The high quality of the shoe makes it quite durable
- Amazing design: when the sole will be all used up you'll still be able to wear the shoe casually
- The shoe entirely wraps around the ankle and the heel which may be uncomfortable if you are dealing with achilles issues.
- Terrain: Road & Track
- Arch support: Neutral
- Heel to toe drop: 4 mm
- Weight: 233 grams
- Release year: 2017
The outsole of the Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit 2017, made of a geometric pattern, is very flexible and durable. The new Nike Free collection is known for its distinctive curved shape.
The midsole is made of Lunar foam enveloped in an IU foam
Since 2016 all the shoes of the Nike Free collection feature the amazing 3D Flyknit technology that provides an incredible sock-like fit. The Flyknit upper is very flexible while providing a good amount of support.
